Buildings are never in isolation, always within a very specific setting.

I'm always looking to understand that setting, to be able to read the landscape, the subtle traces and structures that define it, and how the sky and light transforms, affects, and animates it.

Architecture is a spatial experience, and there is something quite extraordinary in being able to physically move into and through a space. Space affects how people use, experience and move through a building or a place, and their response to their surroundings affects their interaction with others and their place in the world.

This informs how I see the world, and underpins how I approach architecture.
